Illustrator art misaligned?

Why is this happening?

Illustrator uses a system of artboards to align art. The active artboard is what defines the top-left [0, 0] point of the canvas for all art. Overlord uses this to tell After Effects where to draw shapes.

Adobe designed the app so that it can only have one Active Artboard, and the app doesn't clearly tell you while one is active without the Artboards panel open. It is possible to have an artboard active that does not contain your art. If your art is off the canvas in Ae, this is probably what happened.
