I don't want a subscription
Well good thing we don't sell subscriptions
We are human, just like you (that sounds like something a computer would say, but just go with it), and we have to wrestle with everything in the world turning into a subscription. And it's pretty annoying.
For that reason, we don't sell subscriptions. When you buy something at Battle Axe you are buying it in its current form (like a pair of shoes).
Updates
The cool thing about software is that you can update it with new features and fixes. And that's what we do. We love making our products better and we release new features a lot.
With your purchase, you are also getting one year of guaranteed feature updates.
We also release bug fixes and security patches. These are always free.
Renewing
Renewing is totally optional, but it does unlock new features because it funds us building those new features.
The product you buy won't stop working after a year, and you will not lose access to it if you choose not to renew it (like a streaming service).
There is a chance that the host app (Adobe After Effects, Figma, etc) could change their whole plugin system and that could break our products. We will do our best to work with these changes, but we can't promise how involved unreleased systems might be. We don't work for Adobe and that stuff is pretty top-secret, but we'll do our best.
This is kind of annoying 🙁
You aren't wrong. We are a tiny company and we are doing our best to make your work simpler, while also staying in business. I wish we could give all future updates away for free, but making renewals optional is our compromise for users who want the new features, or to keep supporting us, while not forcing people to pay for upgrades every year.
We also feel like subscription schedules can force software to get bloated with things that aren't super helpful. We aren't about that either.
